Feb 19-21 The Kitchen / NYC
Join me on Feb. 19, 20th, or 21st for the NY debut of a new work, Steam / Fans, with Jodi Melnick and Burt Barr at the Kitchen here in NYC. And if you do, find me and say 'hello!'
FROM THE KITCHEN: Two-time Bessie award winning choreographer/dancer Jodi Melnick and artist Burt Barr present the premiere of their first live collaborative performance. Melnick's meticulously designed dance creates a composite world of rhythms, gestures, and motions, juxtaposing structural regularity with disarray. Her solo revolves around Barr's installation of video, lighting, and kinetic sculpture, which casts streaks of spinning light across the space and provides a kaleidoscopic setting for the choreography. The work is complemented by a new sound score by composer Joel Mellin with lighting by Joe Levasseur. Melnick also will present a new version of her work Suedehead. Gnawed with uncertainty, humor, and turbulence, Suedehead includes dancers Vicky Shick and Juliette Mapp, with additional music by Dennis Roche.
