New works for a fully immersive 3 dimensional ambisonic audio environment - a Vortitorium - with performances by Joel Mellin (music) and Faurot / Paulson (performance). The audience will listen from the inside of a cube whose corners intersect the unit sphere where the sound is located. This environment allows for the encoding of audio in spherical coordinates, thus leveraging more physical height information than surround sound.

New York City's Gamelan Dharma Swara, under the direction of master Balinese artists, studies and performs traditional works and develops new compositions for Balinese gamelan ensemble. We have been invited by the Governor of Bali (Madé Mangku Pastika) to perform at the 2010 Bali Arts Festival head to head with other Balinese groups on the immense Arda Chandra stage. This is the first time a non-Balinese group has been asked to perform in this format. Leading up to our performance at the Bali Arts Festival we will conduct a "mini-tour" of the island, performing in the traditional meeting houses (banjar) of several villages including: Ubud, Jagaraga, Tenganan, Kerambitan and Mengwitani.
