Flora Sensoria for Mysterium Novum

Flora Sensoria is an experiential piece inspired by synestheisia - a neurological condition where one sense is perceived by another, automatically and involuntarily - perceiving sound as having color, associating physical distance with letters or number sequences.

My work explores the involuntary and personal nature of these sensations through interactions with paper flower sculptures. These sculptures convert the vibrations of your touch to electrical signals which produce real-time responses in your other senses - via sound, light, and physical force.

Commissioned by the Nouveau Classical Project (NCP)
